Virginia Cornish

Professor, Department of Chemistry, Columbia University

The Cornish laboratory is pioneering new synthetic methods for modifying proteins and other biomolecules in living cells. For these synthetic methods, Dr. Cornish combines her expertise in organic synthesis, protein engineering, molecular biology, and genetics. She is applying these methods to labeling proteins with biophysical probes for live cell imaging. Dr. Cornish will assist Dr. Kent in managing the chemistry core–assisting members in the application of state-of the-art synthetic methods for labeling proteins and biophysical probe synthesis. She will also be an active participant in Projects.
